Background:

Sialendoscopy is a key diagnostic and interventional procedure for salivary gland diseases.
Patients and healthcare providers rely on online resources for information about sialendoscopy.
Assessing the quality of online health information is essential for patient education and informed decision-making.

Purpose of the Study:

To analyze the quality and readability of online information available for sialendoscopy.
To evaluate the reliability and understandability of web content related to sialendoscopy procedures.

Main Methods:

A Google search for "Sialendoscopy" identified the top 100 websites for evaluation.
Inclusion criteria included accessibility, relevance, and written format.
Validated metrics were used to assess readability (e.g., Flesch Reading Ease) and reliability (e.g., Discern score).
A focused analysis was performed on the top nine websites due to higher traffic.

Main Results:

Readability scores indicated content was "difficult to read" (mean Flesch Reading Ease 36.2-39.5).
Reliability scores fell into the "poor" to "fair" categories (mean Discern score 36.9-45.0).
Higher search engine ranking did not correlate with better readability or reliability.

Conclusions:

Online health information on sialendoscopy is generally not accessible or reliable for the general public.
Complex medical terminology and search engine algorithms hinder the quality of online health education.
Future efforts should focus on improving content quality, potentially using AI, and optimizing search engine results for health information.
