Abstract:
Bone scintigraphy, which is one of the most frequently performed tests in oncological patients, may reveal many non-oncological disorders of bone metabolism. As an example, presented is a case of a patient with a history of lung cancer, in whom a bone scan showed an abnormal accumulation of osteotropic radiopharmaceutical in the femur. An additional single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) acquisition allowed for the rare diagnosis of myositis ossificans.
