Asepsis is the practice of preventing or breaking the chain of infection. The nurse employs aseptic techniques to prevent the spread of microorganisms and reduce the risk of diseases. Hand hygiene is the cornerstone of aseptic techniques and is classified into medical and surgical asepsis. Medical asepsis includes hand hygiene and the use of gloves. Summary

Minimally invasive quadriceps tendon harvesting offers a viable surgical option for knee ligament reconstruction. This technique demonstrated satisfactory outcomes and excellent postoperative evolution in patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament repair.

Background:

Describes a standardized, minimally invasive technique for quadriceps tendon harvesting.
Utilizes a small transverse skin incision (2-3 cm) for graft procurement.

Purpose of the Study:

To present a viable surgical option for quadriceps tendon harvesting.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a minimally invasive approach for soft tissue grafts.

Main Methods:

A transverse anterior knee incision followed by a longitudinal split of the central quadriceps tendon.
Distal patellar detachment and graft extraction using a closed stripper.
Graft preparation involves folding for a double-strand construct.

Main Results:

Twenty patients (16 male, 4 female) with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture underwent reconstruction.
All patients achieved satisfactory results with good immediate and late postoperative outcomes.
No instances of joint stiffness, wound dehiscence, or infection were reported.

Conclusions:

Minimally invasive quadriceps tendon harvesting is a valid and reliable technique for knee ligament reconstruction.
The procedure is suitable for patients requiring soft tissue grafts for ligament repair.
