Visual evoked potentials in ataxia telangiectasia.

R Sridharan, B C Mehta

    Journal of Neurology
    |January 1, 1985
    PubMed
    Summary

Visual evoked potentials (VEPs) in ataxia telangiectasia patients showed mixed results, with two normal and two absent responses. These VEP changes may indicate nerve fiber degeneration in the anterior visual pathway.

    • Neuroscience
    • Ophthalmology
    • Genetics

    Background:

    • Ataxia telangiectasia (A-T) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder.
    • Ocular motor and visual pathway abnormalities are reported in A-T patients.
    • Visual evoked potentials (VEPs) are electrophysiological tests assessing the visual pathway's integrity.
