Abstract:
A phytochemical investigation of the leaves and stems of Trichilia elegans A. Juss resulted in the isolation and purification of twenty compounds, including three steroids (1-3), two coumarins (4,5), eleven phenolic acid derivatives (6-16), one oxazol derivative (17) and three glycosylated flavonoids (18-20). The structures of these compounds were elucidated through NMR spectroscopy and comparison with literature data. This study represents the first report of the natural occurrence of glycosylated flavonoids in T. elegans and the first description of compounds (4-20) in this species.
