DefinitionTraumatic brain injury, or TBI, is a disturbance of normal brain function induced by an external mechanical force, such as a direct blow to the head or a penetrating injury. Summary

Bicycle accidents frequently cause craniofacial soft tissue injuries, with helmet use reducing upper face injuries but increasing lower face injuries. Age and sex also influence injury risk.
