  • Understanding students' knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) is vital for developing effective interventions.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of university students concerning cervical spine health.
  • To identify factors associated with varying levels of KAP regarding cervical spine health.

Main Methods:

  • A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 1,956 university students in China.
  • Self-developed questionnaires collected demographic data and KAP scores, with KAP levels categorized using defined cut-off values.
  • Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified factors influencing KAP.

Main Results:

  • Students demonstrated moderate knowledge (mean score 10.4/15), positive attitudes (mean score 34.1/39), and inappropriate practices (mean score 20.9/35).
  • Female students, non-freshmen, and those obtaining knowledge from WeChat or community hospitals showed higher knowledge.
  • Non-medical majors and prolonged device use (≥3 hours/day) were negatively associated with positive attitudes; positive attitudes and expert knowledge sources correlated with better practices.

Conclusions:

  • University students possess a gap between positive attitudes and appropriate practices concerning cervical spine health.
  • Educational interventions should target non-medical majors, students with extensive digital device use, and freshmen.
  • Addressing prolonged sedentary behavior and promoting better digital device habits are essential for improving student cervical spine health.
