Background:

  • Adulthood vaccination coverage remains suboptimal worldwide, including in Turkey.
  • Low vaccination rates in adults pose significant public health challenges.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding adult vaccination among individuals aged 18 and above.
  • To identify factors influencing adult vaccination uptake.

Main Methods:

  • A cross-sectional study was conducted with 686 participants.
  • Data were collected using questionnaires administered at Family Health Centers.
  • Statistical significance was determined using p<0.05.

Main Results:

  • 72.4% of participants reported receiving at least one adult vaccination.
  • The most common adult vaccines were tetanus (55.1%), influenza (26.8%), and hepatitis B (8.2%).
  • PATH analysis indicated that adult vaccine recommendations mediated the relationship between perceived necessity and vaccination behavior.

Conclusions:

  • Current adult vaccination coverage is inadequate.
  • There is a critical need to enhance public awareness and recommendations for adult immunizations.
  • Multi-faceted strategies, including health service information, social education, and media campaigns, are recommended.
