Ten eudesmane sesquiterpenoids from Dobinea delavayi and their antimalarial and lipid-lowering activities

Abstract:
Ten undescribed eudesmane sesquiterpenoids dobinins AB-AJ (1-10) were isolated from Dobinea delavayi, and their structures were identified by extensive spectroscopic data analyses. Dobinin AB (1) is the first sesquiterpenoid alkaloid isolated from Anacardiaceae. The in vitro antimalarial activities against Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 and lipid-lowering activities of all compounds were evaluated. The antimalarial test was determined by SYBR Green I staining based on DNA quantification, and the lipid-lowering assay was determined by a lipid accumulation model of HepG2 cells. Compounds 1, 2, 4, 6, and 7 exhibited moderate antimalarial activities with IC50 values of 35.9, 52.5, 46.0, 27.5, and 59.1 μM, while compounds 5, 7, and 8 showed moderate lipid-lowering activities with lipid-lowering rates of 7.5 ± 4.7 %, 6.1 ± 3.8 %, and 6.5 ± 3.9 % at a concentration of 100 μM, respectively.
