Abstract:
To investigate the diagnostic value of Monocyte Distribution Width (MDW) in urosepsis. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 250 patients with Urolithiasis who underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). Among these, 53 were diagnosed with postoperative urosepsis, and 18 had poor prognoses. MDW, Procalcitonin (PCT), and C-Reactive Protein (CRP) levels were measured 24 h post-operation.. MDW, PCT, and CRP levels were significantly elevated in urosepsis patients compared to non-sepsis patients (all p < 0.0001). MDW levels were significantly higher in patients with poor prognoses (P < 0.0001). MDW was positively correlated with APACHE II score. The AUCs for MDW, PCT, and CRP were 0.825, 0.828, and 0.605, respectively. The sensitivity for diagnosing urosepsis was 80.2%, 84.7%, and 55.0%, while specificity was 87.2%, 87.5%, and 52.5%, respectively. MDW shows potential as a diagnostic marker for urosepsis and is associated with disease severity. MDW showing promise as a new biomarker for diagnosing postoperative urosepsis.
