[Innovations in Genetic Diagnosis and Gene Therapy for Neurological Disorders]
1Department of Neurology, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry (NCNP).
Abstract:
Genetic diagnosis plays an essential role in the field of neurology. Sufficient informed consent and genetic counseling are crucial for genetic diagnosis. The three important factors in conducting genetic diagnosis are accurate clinical diagnosis based on detailed clinical information, appropriate analytical methods optimized for the molecular epidemiology of diseases, and a thorough post-analysis review. Comprehensive genetic analysis has been recently utilized for genetic diagnosis. Gene therapies, including nucleic acid medicine and gene delivery, have been implemented in clinical settings for hereditary neurological diseases.
