Background:

  • Pancreatic arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) is an exceptionally rare congenital vascular anomaly.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To report a rare case of pancreatic arteriovenous malformation (PAVM).
  • To discuss the diagnosis and effective surgical management of PAVM presenting with acute pancreatitis.

  • A 37-year-old male presented with acute abdominal pain.
  • Computed tomography identified an arteriovenous malformation in the pancreatic tail and acute pancreatitis.
  • The patient underwent distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy.

  • Histopathology confirmed PAVM and acute pancreatitis, presumed to be induced by the PAVM.
  • The patient experienced a successful recovery and remained symptom-free post-discharge.
