Summary

Preoperative paraspinal muscle degeneration, particularly the cross-sectional area ratio (CSA r), significantly impacts sagittal balance after cervical disc arthroplasty (CDA). Identifying these muscle parameters may help predict and manage postoperative outcomes.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine associations between preoperative paraspinal muscle parameters and postoperative outcomes after CDA.
  • To identify predictors of postoperative outcomes following CDA.
  • To investigate the role of muscle degeneration in CDA success.

  • CSA r is a key predictor of postoperative sagittal balance.
  • CDA in patients with significant preoperative muscle degeneration may increase the risk of sagittal imbalance.
