Remodeling Behaviors of Polyoxometalate in a Flexible Chiral Complex System

Abstract:
In recent years, the chiral functionalization of polyoxometalates (POMs) has aroused extensive research interest. Herein, we realized the chiral functionalization of POMs by introducing chiral silver phosphine macrocycles. Three remodeling patterns of POMs exist in a flexible chiral complex system: (i) a dispersed (eutectic) form in the chiral substrate; (ii) a decorative (coordination) form in the chiral substrate, forming a POM-[Ag2dppp2] spiral chain; and (iii) a new chiral POM generated in situ and sandwiched in a dimeric macrocyclic matrix. Circular dichroic signals reveal that these hybrids are chiral. Besides, the chiral catalysis and adsorption capacity of these hybrids were investigated. This work opens a wide way for synthesizing chiral POM compounds and studying their properties.
