Abstract:
The extracellular synthesis of titanium dioxide nanoparticles has been investigated using the marine actinobacteria, Streptomyces sp. LK-3. UV-visible spectroscopy, XRD, AFM and SPM techniques were used to characterize the particle size, morphology and found to be within the range of 3.5-92 nm with spherical and oval shape. Titanium dioxide nanoparticles have been subjected as a catalyst in the synthesis of 2, 3, 4-trisubstituted quinolines and found to be an efficient and reusable catalyst. The developed procedure is simple, fast, affords good yield, cost-effective and environmentally benign. The recovered catalyst can be reused without a considerable change in its activity. In addition titanium dioxide nanoparticles exhibit 13 mm activity against isolated biofouling bacteria, Staphylococcus sp. and it also showed Rhodamine B degradation within 10 min.
