Transition metal (TM) σ-B-H borane/borate complexes are fundamentally intriguing due to their connections with TM-mediated B-H bond activation and catalytic application. Most of the reported examples are neutral σ-B-H complexes. However, to date, examples of cationic σ-B-H species remain exceedingly scarce. Herein, we report an efficient salt elimination/hydride removal approach for the construction of rare cationic osmium bis(σ-B-H) borane complexes. These novel cationic species feature the cationic fragment OsH(CO)(PCy3)2+ coordinated with monoaryl borane ligands through two geminal σ-B-H bonds. Atoms in molecules (AIM) analyses of 1a and 2a show remarkable differences in their Os-H-H-B regions. Our results enrich the diversity of osmium σ-B-H complexes.

Structural Isomerism
Isomers are different chemical species that have the same chemical formula. Structural isomerism of coordination compounds can be divided into two subcategories, the linkage isomers and coordination-sphere isomers.
Linkage isomers occur when the coordination compound contains a ligand that can bind to the transition metal center through two different atoms. For example, the CN− ligand can bind through the carbon atom or through the nitrogen atom. Similarly,...

Regioselectivity and Stereochemistry of Hydroboration
Hydroboration proceeds in a concerted fashion with the attack of borane on the π bond, giving a cyclic four-centered transition state. The –BH2 group is bonded to the less substituted carbon and –H to the more substituted carbon. The concerted nature requires the simultaneous addition of –H and –BH2 across the same face of the alkene giving syn...
