    Palatopharyngoplasty (PPP) effectively treats snoring but shows limited success for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Only 46% of patients experienced significant or some improvement in apnea episodes and oxygen levels after PPP.

    Background:

    • Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder characterized by repeated airway collapse during sleep.
    • Palatopharyngoplasty (PPP) is a surgical procedure sometimes used to treat OSA.
    • Evaluating the efficacy of PPP in OSA patients is crucial for treatment selection.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To assess the effectiveness of palatopharyngoplasty (PPP) in treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
    • To identify patient subgroups that may benefit most from PPP for OSA.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective study involving 30 patients diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
    • Evaluation of treatment outcomes included snoring reduction, apnea episode frequency, and oxygen saturation levels.
