Summary

This study assessed Angora goat welfare in Türkiye using the Animal Needs Index (ANI) and Animal Welfare Indicators (AWIN). Smaller farms showed better goat welfare, particularly in locomotion and social interaction.

  • Angora goat welfare in Ankara Province presents several challenges, notably anemia and poor hygiene.
  • Farm size appears to influence specific welfare aspects, with smaller farms potentially offering advantages.
  • Targeted interventions are needed to address prevalent health and management issues.
