Abstract:
Three new compounds (1-3), along with seven known compounds, were isolated from Laggera pterodonta. The structures of compounds 1-3, including their relative configurations, were determined using NMR spectroscopy and high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR-ESI-MS) analysis. The absolute configurations of new compounds 1-3 were determined by ECD calculations. Furthermore, the cytotoxic activity of the isolated sesquiterpenoids from L. pterodonta was evaluated in cancer cells, including HT1080, HCT116, A549, H1299 cells. Compound 1 effectively suppressed the colony formation ability of HT1080 cells in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, some cells treated with compound 1 were accompanied with apoptotic bodies, suggesting that compound 1 might induce cell death via apoptosis. Compound 1 elicited intracellular ROS accumulation.
