Digital angiocardiography and echocardiography: fundamentals and future aspects
Abstract:
Digital techniques of image data acquisition, processing and analysis were developed relatively early in cardiology but their broad clinical application lags behind the use of similar methods in angiography, even though these techniques have shown their advantages in reducing contrast material and X-ray dose, in quantitative evaluation of circulatory parameters and in high quality real-time electronic image storage. Recent developments in the fields of angiocardiographic image acquisition, in image processing and in the design of advanced digital processors are reported. The possibilities for an integration of echocardiographic imagery (especially of echo contrast studies) into angiocardiographic image processing are discussed. Medical and technological research is needed to define still more precisely the medical needs and to improve the technical means for digital angiocardiography and echocardiography.

Electrocardiogram Fundamentals
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a diagnostic tool for identifying cardiac conditions such as arrhythmias, conduction abnormalities, and myocardial ischemia.
Definition
An electrocardiogram (ECG) visualizes the heart's electrical activity by tracing the electrical movement associated with each heartbeat on a graph or monitor. As the heart beats, an electrical wave passes through it, correlating with the cardiac cycle events.
Parts of an ECG
An ECG utilizes electrodes on the skin to...

Types of Echocardiography
Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE)
TTE is the most common type of echocardiogram which involves placing a transducer on the patient's chest, emitting sound waves to create heart images. TTE is invaluable for evaluating the heart's size, structure, and motion, making it particularly useful for diagnosing...
