Case:
A 12-year-old adolescent boy presented with delayed median and ulnar nerve palsy following nailing for midshaft both-bone forearm fractures. Electromyography nerve conduction velocity studies confirmed median and ulnar nerve compression at the fracture site. Surgical exploration revealed an intact median nerve with adhesions and an ulnar nerve neuroma requiring sural nerve grafting. Postoperatively, the patient achieved significant sensory recovery and intrinsic muscle strength within 6 months, with full recovery at 1 year.
Conclusion:
This case highlights a unique finding of delayed simultaneous median and ulnar nerve palsy following pediatric forearm fractures, emphasizing early recognition and tailored surgical intervention to ensure optimal functional recovery.

Fractures: Bone Repair
Minor fractures with no bone displacement are treated by immobilizing the fractured bone using a cast or splint. However, in the case of fractures with displaced bones, the broken bones are repositioned before immobilization to ensure successful healing without deformation and loss of function. The realignment of fractured bone ends is performed through a process called reduction. If the...
