Perioperative fever: etiology and treatment

The authors discuss the causes of intraoperative fever and of fever occurring at different periods postoperatively. Salicylates or other antipyretics should be administered to reduce the body temperature as quickly as possible; however, it is still essential to determine and eliminate the cause of the fever.
