Anxiety moderates the effect of sleep on selective forgetting

Anxiety hinders sleep's ability to selectively forget unwanted memories. Low-anxiety individuals showed improved directed forgetting (DF) after sleep, linked to sleep spindles, unlike high-anxiety groups.
