Chemotherapy of head and neck cancer

Abstract:
Squamous cell cancer of the head and neck accounts for five per cent of cases of cancer in the United States. Both the poor overall survival in cancer treated by surgery and radiation and the severe deformities associated with treatment have led to the investigation of adjuvant induction chemotherapy for high-risk patients. This article reviews the role of chemotherapy in the care of these patients.
