Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas) is a vital global crop, yet its genetic resources for advanced breeding are limited.
Development of robust molecular markers is crucial for accelerating genetic improvement and understanding sweetpotato diversity.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and characterize a comprehensive set of molecular markers for sweetpotato.
To provide essential genetic resources for high-resolution linkage map construction and genetic studies in sweetpotato.

Development of 689 simple sequence repeat (SSR) and 79 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers.
Distribution analysis of markers across the sweetpotato genome and assessment of marker performance on five sweetpotato cultivars.
Identification of polymorphic markers between 'Beauregard' and 'Tanzania' cultivars.
