Extraordinarily High 99m TcO4 - Activity in Meckel's Diverticulum Relative to the Stomach

Abstract:
Meckel's diverticulum typically shows accumulation of 99m Tc-Pertechnetate ( 99m TcO4 - ) with an intensity lower than that of the stomach and appears simultaneously with or shortly after the stomach on Meckel's scan. We report a case of a 14-year-old boy with Meckel's diverticulum that demonstrated unusually early and intense radiotracer uptake-appearing before the stomach-and maintained markedly higher intensity than the stomach throughout the 99m TcO4 - scintigraphy examination.
