FDG PET/CT in Splenic Metastasis From Renal Cell Carcinoma

Abstract:
Splenic metastasis from renal cell carcinoma is rare (<1%). Isolated splenic metastasis from renal cell carcinoma is even rarer. We describe FDG PET/CT findings in 2 patients with histologically proven splenic metastasis from renal cell carcinoma. In one patient with solitary isolated splenic metastasis from clear cell renal cell carcinoma, FDG PET/CT showed mild activity of the splenic tumor. In the other patient with solitary splenic and multiple extrasplenic metastases from renal collecting duct carcinoma, FDG PET/CT showed intense activity of the splenic tumor.
