Abstract:
Ketone body imaging using positron emission tomography (PET) provides valuable insights into various pathological conditions, including cancer, neurological disorders, and cardiovascular diseases. While [18F]FBHB has shown promise as a radiofluorinated ketone body radioligand, its application has been limited by a low-yielding synthesis. Herein, we report an improved radiosynthesis of [18F]FBHB with a radiochemical yield (RCY) of 21 ± 3%, compared to the original 1.3%. The new methodology streamlines production, enables automation, and expands translational potential.
