    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the ocular effects of simulated high altitude on soft contact lens wearers.
    • To determine if hypoxia alone causes eye discomfort in contact lens users.

    Main Methods:

    • Seven women wearing soft contact lenses were exposed to a simulated altitude of 4000m in a decompression chamber for 4 hours.
    • Environmental factors like humidity, temperature, and illumination were controlled.
    • A control group without contact lenses was also monitored.

    • 5 participants reported subjective eye discomfort.
