Psychotherapeutic management of obsessive-compulsive patients
American Journal of Psychotherapy
|July 1, 1985
Abstract:
Psychotherapy of the obsessive-compulsive patient requires a modified psychoanalytic approach utilizing the concepts of a short-term therapy, which include focusing on relevant issues with limited goals. The therapist must be active, confronting, and must deal with here-and-now issues. The use of psychopharmacological agents to reduce anxiety and depression should be encouraged.
