Cosmetic surgery has seen enormous growth in recent years. Desire for beauty and its benefits, combined with increasing ease and affordability, describes the overt reasons for the increase in elective plastic surgery. However, the psychological motivations that drive the desire for cosmetic surgery are complex. The influence of media and relationships, as well as specific personality traits and life events, all contribute to the psychological motivation for pursuing cosmetic surgery.
