Abstract:
Chronic wounds are a major public health concern worldwide because their complex pathophysiological processes and multifactorial etiology substantially complicate therapeutic interventions, highlighting the urgency of developing novel intervention approaches. Platinum-derived (Pt-derived) nanomaterials, owing to their distinctive biophysical characteristics and catalytic functionalities, have demonstrated promising therapeutic capabilities in chronic wound management. Nevertheless, critical gaps remain in understanding their clinical translation and effectiveness. In this context, the present review systematically investigated the structure-bioactivity relationships of Pt-derived nanocomposites and hybrid systems while evaluating their biomedical multivalency and combinatory approaches in therapeutic applications. In addition, the limitations currently impeding the practical implementation of Pt-derived nanotherapeutics and prospects for future advancements in material optimisation and biological integration strategies are addressed.
