Minimal Invasive Restorations From the Perspective of the Dental Laboratory

Introduction:
Resin-bonded fixed partial denture (RBFDP) is a conservative minimal invasive approach for replacing missing teeth and could be included as a treatment option. This type of restoration has been described over 30 years ago and can be considered to give a reversible, minimally invasive, esthetic and predictable restorative outcome. Clinical settings appear to high failure rates, mainly due to unfavorable bridge designs or inappropriate cementation protocol. This article describes the development, bridge design, digital workflow and manufacturing of single wing RBFDPs on zirconium dioxide as well as the workflow of the fabrication of ultra-thin feldspatic veneers.
Objectives:
The primary objective of this manuscript was to describe the technical/digital workflow and indications of RBFDPs and minimal invasive restorations.
Methods:
The RBFDPs manufactured in zirconium dioxide have been manufactured with one single retainer. The esthetic aspect has been provided with individual layered feldspatic porcelain. Ultra-thin feldspatic veneers have been individually layered with ceramics on refractory die material.
Results:
This is a case report meaning that no results of studies have been included in this manuscript.
Conclusion:
Success of one single wing RBFDPs and minimal invasive restorations depends on case selection, meticulous preparation and proper cementation and can be considered to be a durable prosthesis over the long term with high patient satisfaction.
