Evaluation of a residential AA programme for women
Abstract:
Follow-up interviews were conducted with 43 women who participated in a residential programme based on the work of Alcoholics Anonymous; the treatment outcome was compared to that of 35 similar women in a control group formed by a retrospective matching procedure. The control group received inpatient detoxification. For a wide range of outcome variables and, not just for abstinence, the treatment group had a significantly better outcome.
