Abstract:
We report for the first time that zinc ions (Zn2+) significantly enhance the chemiluminescence (CL) signal of the luminol-hydrogen peroxide (luminol-H2O2) system by "dragging" heme iron out of myoglobin (Mb). Integrating this with myoglobin aptamer (Mb aptamer) specific recognition enables sensitive and specific quantification of Mb content in beef samples.
