Abstract:
Recently, Ning et al., have reported a very interesting and promising electrochemical method of 1,4-NADH regeneration. NAD+ forms host-guest complex with the cucurbit[8]uril anchored to the NiO surface, and then NAD+ approaches the surface-adsorbed hydrogen atoms on NiO, which leads to the effective 1,4-NADH regeneration. It is reasonable to expect that the method will find practical application in the industrial processes in which 1,4-NADH is employed, lowering their costs. The only part of the article by Ning et al., which seems to be disputable, is the reported mass spectrometry data, sometimes a lack of data, as described in detail in this correspondence.
