Summary

Elevated total bilirubin levels may reduce the risk of developing ulcerative colitis (UC), a chronic inflammatory bowel disease. This study used Mendelian randomization to explore the causal link between bilirubin and UC, suggesting a protective effect. Further research is needed for clinical applications.
