Annular Lesions Mimicking Mpox in a Patient With HIV

Syphilis, a chronic bacterial infection caused by Treponema pallidum , is now reemerging as a global public health problem, particularly among men who have homosexual relationships. Because syphilis could mimic various diseases and could coexist with other sexually transmitted diseases, accurate recognition of syphilis, with its versatile presentations, can challenge even the most experienced clinician. Here, we presented a case of syphilis mimicking mpox in a homosexual patient with HIV infection and summarized the key points in differentiating syphilis from mpox.
