Effect of an educational intervention on pressure ulcer documentation among tertiary hospital nurses in Jordan

Background:
Pressure ulcers are a significant health issue in the Middle East, with evidence of poor-quality nursing documentation among Jordanian nurses.
Aim:
This study aimed to assess the effect of an educational intervention on nurses' knowledge, skills and motivation, as well as on the quality of nursing documentation.
Methods:
A quasi-experimental design was used to select participants using stratification and simple random sampling techniques into intervention and control groups.
Findings:
A response rate of more than 80% was attained in both groups. The data showed that there were no statistically significant differences between participant characteristics or research outcomes between the intervention and control groups at baseline (P>0.05). Following the intervention, after adjusting for variables, a notable difference was recorded between and within the intervention and control groups (P<0.001).
Conclusion:
According to the intervention group data, the newly developed educational intervention was effective in considerably raising the standard of nursing documentation for pressure ulcers.
