Quadroiliac Plane Block for Analgesia in Pediatric Inguinal Hernia: A Case Report

Abstract:
This case report describes the first use of the quadroiliac plane block (QIPB) for postoperative analgesia in a 9-year-old obese child undergoing inguinal hernia repair. QIPB was performed bilaterally under ultrasound guidance with 0.25% bupivacaine (0.3 mL/kg). The patient required no additional analgesia beyond intraoperative paracetamol, with a Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability (FLACC) score of 2 at 24 hours. QIPB may provide effective and prolonged analgesia in pediatric patients, and its feasibility in obese individuals is supported by the consistent visibility of anatomical landmarks. Further studies are needed to validate its efficacy.
