Clinical Results of Double-Layer MicroNet Stents in Complex Anatomy

Objectives:
This study evaluates the clinical and technical outcomes of Carotid Artery Stenting (CAS) using the C-Guard double-layer stent in patients with complex versus standard vascular anatomies, focusing on technical success, major adverse events (MAEs), and restenosis rates.
Methods:
A retrospective review was conducted on 167 patients who underwent CAS between 2019 and 2024 across 3 vascular centers. Patients were classified into standard and complex anatomy groups based on a predefined anatomical risk score. Outcomes measured included technical success, MAEs (death, stroke, myocardial infarction), and restenosis rates. Statistical analyses compared outcomes between the 2 groups.
Results:
Technical success was achieved in 99.4% of cases. No significant differences in MAEs were observed between standard and complex anatomy groups (P > 0.05), although major strokes (4%) and restenosis (4%) occurred exclusively in the complex group. Mean follow-up was 20.86 months, with no significant differences in outcomes between groups.
Conclusion:
The C-Guard stent achieved high technical success and low rates of major adverse events, demonstrating its safety and efficacy even in complex anatomies. With comparable outcomes across groups, it is a reliable option for challenging vascular conditions. Further research is required to confirm these results and optimize patient selection criteria.
