A new tool for laryngeal electromyography in the Australian paediatric population

Objective:
Paediatric laryngeal electromyography (LEMG) is a useful tool in the assessment of paediatric patients with vocal cord paresis.
Method/Results:
The limited space in the paediatric airway and the size of the monopolar electrode presents unique technical challenges. We present a new tool we designed to facilitate the placement of the monopolar electrode in the thyroarytenoid and posterior cricoarytenoid muscles.
Conclusion:
This tool improves the ease of insertion and practicality, and potentially the accuracy of paediatric LEMG.
