Abstract:
The management of patients with a zygomaticomaxillary complex (ZMC) fracture requires assessment of functional and aesthetic impacts, tailored to individual fracture patterns, soft tissue effects, visual changes, and other aspects. Precise reduction is challenging due in part to the three-dimensional tetrapod structure, 4 buttresses, and limited ability to expose ZMC fractures. Tools like virtual surgical planning, navigation, and intraoperative computed tomography may enhance precision and minimize morbidity. We can expect that further developments in navigation, augmented reality, and other technologies will improve confirmation of anatomic reduction.
