  • A standardized interview was conducted with 77 patients (18+ years) presenting with LUTS.
  • Patients rated devices (paper, digitalized bladder diary, home/portable uroflowmeters, sono-uroflowmetry, video-uroflowmetry) on cumbersomeness, stigmatization, ease of use, confidentiality, and hygiene.
  • Subgroup analyses explored variations based on sex, age, activity, working conditions, neurological disease, and LUTS type.

Main Results:

  • Sono-uroflowmetry received the highest median score (23/25), while video-uroflowmetry scored lowest (9/25).
  • Digitalized bladder diaries were perceived as less cumbersome and rated higher by younger patients (<50 years) compared to paper diaries.
  • Home uroflowmeters were considered easier to use than portable ones, with females rating portable uroflowmeters lower.

Conclusions:

  • Most digital and connected urological devices are positively anticipated by patients.
  • Sono-uroflowmetry is a preferred technology, but patient preferences are influenced by individual factors such as sex, age, and work environment.
