Abstract:
To address the challenges of wheat phytotoxicity and herbicide resistance of conventional mesosulfuron-methyl (MES) formulations in controlling Aegilops tauschii, a temperature-responsive controlled-release herbicide system (MPA-TPA-POPs@MES@PLU) was developed in this study. MES was encapsulated within porous MPA-TPA-POPs and coated with thermosensitive Pluronic F-127 (PLU), enabling intelligent release regulated by temperature. Compared to MES, this system demonstrated superior sustained-release properties, reducing emissions by 62.7% at 3 °C while maintaining effective release at 25 °C. Biological evaluations revealed that the GR50 against A. tauschii was 28% lower than that of MES oil dispersion (OD). Notably, the formulation exhibited superior crop safety, reducing wheat phytotoxicity by 62% and 54% in fresh weight inhibition rate compared to MES OD and MES TC at 3 °C. By synergistically integrating porous carrier loading and thermoresponsive coating technologies, this study achieved precise temperature-modulated herbicide release, extending herbicidal persistence while minimizing nontarget crop exposure through environmental temperature perception, providing a paradigm for designing intelligent agrochemical delivery systems with high efficacy and biosafety.
