User-Related Factors in Health Information Technology Readiness: A Scoping Review

Implementing Health Information Technology (HIT) is promising for optimizing healthcare. The success of HIT implementation depends on end-users' readiness to effectively integrate and use these systems, influenced by technical, organizational, and user-related factors. While technical and organizational readiness are well studied, HIT user readiness remains underexplored. This scoping review identifies and categorizes the person-related factors that facilitate successful HIT implementation. The sixteen factors identified in this study can guide HIT project managers, consultants, and policy makers in enhancing user readiness through readiness assessment, targeted training, and supportive policies, ultimately optimizing HIT adoption.
