Quality parameters of colorectal polypectomy

High-quality polypectomy is critical to prevent colorectal cancer, reduce recurrence, and optimize patient outcomes. Although some quality parameters for polypectomy have been suggested by endoscopic societies, new emerging techniques and the lack of standardization hamper their implementation into clinical practice. This review highlights the key factors influencing polypectomy quality, including procedural techniques, complete resection rates, efficiency and the potential outcomes to measure these quality parameters. We discuss the role of advanced imaging, documentation, training, and adherence to guidelines in improving outcomes. Additionally, we explore barriers to achieving high-quality polypectomy, such as operator variability and resource constraints. We highlight the need for standardized quality metrics and continuous professional development to ensure consistent and effective endoscopic care.
