Abstract:
We present the case of a 2-year-old girl with a recent history of rectorrhagia, the latest episode occurring two days ago. She was referred for 99m Tc-pertechnetate scan to detect ectopic gastric mucosa. In the initial phases, a Meckel diverticulum was identified in the mid-lower abdomen. Simultaneously, a diffuse area of activity was observed in the left abdomen, indicating active bleeding. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of Meckel diverticulum presenting simultaneously with active bleeding. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges posed by active bleeding, which can mimic or obscure findings on scintigraphy, complicating interpretation.
