Purpose:
To describe a case of complete acquired ptosis after scleral buckling with spontaneous resolution.
Methods:
A 44-year-old otherwise healthy woman underwent placement of 4,050 scleral buckle, cryotherapy, and injection of 0.3 mL 100% C3F8 for a superior rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. She developed transient, acquired, isolated, complete ptosis that resolved spontaneously by postoperative month 3.
Results:
Ptosis resolved by postoperative month 3.
Conclusion:
This case of complete ptosis after scleral buckling would assist vitreoretinal surgeons in counseling patients on their postoperative care.
