- To incorporate trifluoromethyl groups into these scaffolds.
- To achieve this under mild and aerobic conditions.
Main Methods:
- Utilizing the multitasking photocatalyst *fac*-Ir(ppy)3.
- Employing an energy transfer (EnT) mechanism to generate iminyl radicals from oxime-ester precursors.
- Implementing a photoredox cycle for installing the iminyl radical onto an olefin.
Main Results:
- Successful synthesis of 2-azadiene scaffolds with trifluoromethyl groups.
- Achieved high stereoselectivity in the C-N bond formation.
- Demonstrated broad substrate scope and high yields.
- Reaction proceeds under mild, aerobic conditions.
Conclusions:
- A novel and efficient photocatalyzed method for synthesizing trifluoromethylated 2-azadiene scaffolds has been established.
- The methodology offers mild conditions, broad scope, and excellent stereoselectivity.
- This approach provides a valuable tool for accessing complex organic molecules.

Preparation of 1° Amines: Azide Synthesis
Azide ions act as good nucleophiles and react with unhindered alkyl halides to form alkyl azides. Alkyl azides do not participate in further nucleophilic substitution reactions, thereby eliminating the chances of polyalkylated products. Alkyl azides are reduced by hydride-based reducing agents, like lithium aluminum...
